through baptism is something that I have never thought I would do as an adult, but my how things change! Today I wanted to proclaim to my fellow believers in Christ that "yes," I am a Christian who longs to glorify God with my life and folks,
I got baptized....
It was definitely a challenge for me because my family doesn't agree with becoming re-baptized since I was already baptized as an infant. It was something though that I had been debating with for 3 long years and finally decided (late last night) that I wanted to do it. I wanted to share with others the joy of my salvation in Christ and it was definitely a step outside my comfort zone. Doing what is right is not always easy...and believe me, this step in faith was probably one of the most challenging I have had yet. I know my family disagrees with me and that in itself is discouraging but I know that God is pleased and serving Him is most important. This step will cause rifts between my parents and me but I hope and pray that we can look beyond our differences and focus on the things we do agree with.
Please pray that I would have the strength to approach my family in a loving way about the decision I have made....and that they too would understand my reasons. Also please pray that I would not be swayed by their opinions and to hold fast to my confession and not forget why I got baptized nor regret the decision I have made. It seems like I am most easily persuaded when my parents and I have a difference of opinion. I also need to remember that I am no longer in their household and although I do need to respect them, I am called to submit first and foremost to God and then my husband.
"We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."
Romans 6:4

That's GREAT, Hannah!
Obviously, and very clearly in Scripture, baptism is by NO means a requirement of any sort for salvation or entrance into the kingdom of heaven, but it's a definite sign of obedience to the Father!
Over and over again it was preached: "Believe and be baptized!" So glad to hear you've followed the Lord in yet another step of obedience!
P.S. I miss you guys up there.
