Shopping at....

ALDI's has saved us a lot! I never really knew what ALDI's was until a recent market moved into our town right across from Wal-Mart. We decided to check it out and I am sure glad we did! We have cut our grocery bill a lot by shopping at this cute little "food market." When I tell people about Aldi's the usual responses are:

1) They don't have healthy food

2) It's too much like a warehouse

3) They don't have namebrand items

4) You have to put away your own grocery cart

5) I've never been there before, is it good?

6) Why shop there when you can get the "lowest prices" at Wal-Mart?

All of these responses are assumptions people make even before they have walked into the store. Aldi's doesn't have ALL healthy options but they do offer a lot of healthy items for fairly reasonable prices! One of my favorite things about Aldi's is their string green beans which are flash frozen right after they are picked and contain ZERO grams of sodium! They taste like the beans from my parents garden and they are cheap! Another thing I really like is their line of healthier foods called "Fit and Active," which includes 100% whole grain noodles, rice cakes, dried/frozen fruit, soy milk (which is high in protein and low in sugar), and so much more! Those are just a few of my favorite items they offer. Not only does Aldi's have a good selection of different types of food but a person can almost always count on having their prices be lower than Wal-Mart--everyday! It is true that you have to put away your own shopping cart (you get one for a quarter but get it back after shopping) but it saves the business tons of money each year because they don't have to pay another employee to keep putting them away. Another thing I really love about Aldi's is the cheap baking products they have. I love to bake and I can get flour, sugar, vanilla, coccoa, olive oil (for ONLY $3.40), spices, and so much more. Seriously people, you should check out this little warehouse that offers GREAT deals EVERYDAY!

When I shop at Aldi's I feel good because I know I am saving money.....

Is that enough incentive for you to check it out?

My only two serious beefs with Aldi are:

1. They don't accept coupons, and

2. They only accept cash or debit. Since I generally run my bank card as a credit (in order to avoid that extra fee) and I always forget to get cash before I go....I'm not sure how much money I save after that comes out of my account.

Overall though, I agree, that Aldi is a GREAT place to shop to save money!
